Sizzlin Scents Wax Melt Reviews - September 2021

This is another review of wax melts by Sizzlin Scents, a small candle and wax melt business in Wisconsin (formerly Indiana) that can be found on Etsy and Facebook.

We very much enjoyed these wax melts, and Chris Anderson, the owner, is always friendly, helpful and professional. She changed the labels on her clamshells again, and these look more professional than ever, although we recommend not using the incredibly difficult to read script font for the scent name! Check out here wax melts at Etsy page!

Arctic Night
Fresh ozone and crisp fir needles, violet and lavender flowers and a dry down of rich patchouli, earthy oak moss, and smooth amber
I smell mossy wood, pine, a hint of lavender, a tiny bit of a fresh air note, and a barely detectable smidgen of smokiness. It's not sweet at all. I really like it!

Aromatherapy
A refreshing blast of unique herbal fusion! Basil, sage, and mint, these three green notes from Mother Nature's garden combine beautifully.
A pleasant, relaxing, slightly spa type herbal scent that smells like garden mint and sage. It's very similar to ScentSationals Zen.

Autumn Air
A fresh blend of ripe pumpkin, harvest apples, juicy strawberries, and peppery ginger mixed with spicy cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg, creamy vanilla, and earthy patchouli. Autumn in a bottle.
Sweet apples with cinnamon and cloves. It's not really apple cider though, maybe more like sweet apple juice and cinnamon. It's sweeter, richer, and better than other apple cider type scents I've smelled. It might also have a smidgen of a woodsy note and vanilla. Looking at the notes, I suppose there could be nutmeg in this scent, but it's not a pumpkiny type scent at all. I don't detect strawberries or ginger. The smidgen of woodsiness could be the patchouli, but I don't smell patchouli per se. I love this scent!

Blooming Mums
A blend of fresh Autumn flowers and warm woods with undertones of neroli and blooming orange flowers.
I adore this scent! It doesn't smell like chrysanthemums at all (they have a bitter, grassy scent a little bit like geraniums), but that's perfectly okay, since it smells better! It smells like honeysuckle with a fresh, slightly bitter, slightly soapy, slightly grassy note that tempers a lot of the sweetness of the honeysuckle. But I also detect a slight hint of fruit, like grape perhaps. Fantastic scent, and my description doesn't do it justice. Looking at the notes, I don't detect neroli, although that might be why I love this scent so much. And orange flower smells almost exactly like honeysuckle.

Blueberry Cake
A sweet buttery bouquet of sugared berries with mid notes of pink hawthorn and melted butter. Notes of sweet caramel and creamy vanilla finish off this scent.
A standard fake (not in a bad way), super sweet blueberry scent that's used for a lot of blueberry muffin type scents. This one doesn't have a bakery note, and might have a hint of raspberry and smidgen of maple. It's quite nice. Looking at the notes, what I think is maple is probably the caramel. And hawthorne is a floral scent with a spicy, almond-like note (I don't detect that).

Bonfire Bliss
A fragrance reminiscent of gentle, dusky breezes and bonfires, with notes of dried, wind-blown leaves, heliotrope, charred woods of pine and cedar, amber, smoky sandalwood, and musk with a background containing hints of roasted marshmallows, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla.
I smell marshmallow and cedar with a hint of smokiness, vanilla, maybe a hint of caramel and/or bourbon, and perhaps a smidgen of barely detectable pine way in the background. This scent is way more complex than just toasted marshmallow, and while most marshmallow scents are just "meh" for me, I ADORE this scent! Looking at the notes, they're accurate, except that the marshmallow note is stronger than just a "hint", and I don't smell coconut. The brown sugar is probably what I think is caramel.

Caramelized Pralines
An absolutely irresistible homemade baked blend of warm vanilla caramel with dark brown sugar & butter drenched pecans
A yummy scent of salted caramel and toast, with a little bit of a nutty note. Although it's sweet, it's not as sweet as most caramel scents (probably because of the nuts). After melting for about an hour, it loses most of the caramel note and ends up smelling more like toast, similar to the Nutty Toast scent but without the burnt and chestnut notes. Fantastic either way!

Chocolate Chip Cookie
The perfect chocolate chip cookie. Rich butter, brown sugar and sweet chocolate chips!
This smells like a chocolate bar, not a cookie (no bakery notes). But it smells like a REAL chocolate bar, a combination of Nestle and Hershey's milk chocolate (so just a little bit of that "stinky" Hershey's chocolate, but not too much). I love it! And it would also make a great mixer to add a chocolate note to other scents like vanilla, caramel, coffee, fruit, and more.

Country Breeze
A complex blend of sharp citrus top notes with soft floral notes of garden rose, breeze accord, and white lilies on a bed of pine needles and soft woods.
A super fresh, super soapy scent with a smidgen of rose and baby powder (even though it's just a tiny bit sweet), and possibly a barely detectable smidgen of grapefruit. After about an hour, however, the rose, baby powder and grapefruit notes dissipate and it takes on a smidgen of a pine or spruce note, but still super soapy, like 90% of the fresh soapy note, and 10% spruce. But then after 3 or 4 hours, it takes on a slight bitter note which I think is the rose, that makes it smell a tiny bit like ScentSationals Enchanted. But still a great scent. I've never smelled anything like this before, and I adore this scent!

Drunken Punkin
Pumpkin and coconut infused with rich cassia and clove on a base of dark bourbon, maple, and toasted oak
This smells like sweet pumpkin pie filling with brown sugar and bourbon. The bourbon is very slightly bitter (as is sometimes the case with liquor scents in candles and wax melts), but not enough to ruin the scent. I think I detect a smidgen of coconut as well. Looking at the notes, they're spot on. Cassia is basically the same as cinnamon, and I do detect a teensy bit of cinnamon in the pumpkin note. I also detect a tiny bit of maple as well, but no wood.

Early Sunrise
Bottom notes of red cedar, soft woods, tonka bean, and transparent musk, supporting mid notes of ginger, dewy muguet, and violet petals with top notes of fresh morning air accord, kaffir lime, and navel orange.
This may be one of the best scents I've ever smelled! It's a super salty, rich, slightly sweet scent that smells like lemon, cedar, and bergamot (although it's not a cologney scent at all), with a hint of a zesty, savory herbs (but it's not a zesty "salad" type scent at all), a teensy bit of a fresh air note, and possibly a smidgen of floral (although it's not a floral scent, but it does have some sweetness). It's VERY salty, rich, and zesty, bordering on sour, but in the best way, and it's insanely good! Looking at the notes, they're spot on, although I don't detect ginger or vanilla, and the combination of lime and orange (I don't think I smell orange) is what I think is lemon.

Endless Weekend
An exhilarating blend of mandarin, coconut water, and orange with a floral heart of magnolia, iris, and rose on a dry base of cedarwood, amber, and musk
This fantastic scent is similar to Pink Sugar (a very sweet girly scent that smells a bit like cotton candy, with lily of the valley, vanilla, musk, and faint raspberry notes) but not as sweet, and with maybe a blackberry note. It smells a lot like ScentSationals Girlfriend Night, but not as sweet; in fact, it has some notes in common. The notes for Girlfriend Night are sweet orange zest, juicy apples, and tonka bean, topped off with jasmine petals, pink berry, and coconut milk. Looking at the notes, I do get the magnolia and musk, but no mandarin or orange, coconut, rose, or cedarwood. And I definitely smell a blackberry type fruit. I love this scent!

Frosted Pumpkin
A yummy, freshly baked pumpkin pie with notes of buttery cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and lemon peel, frosted with notes of vanilla that are rich, creamy, and complimented by the sexy scent of West Indian Sandalwood
On cold sniff this smells like pumpkin (nutmeg, a hint of clove, and a smidgen of cinnamon) with a generous amount of milky vanilla, a hint of sandalwood, and maybe a smidgen of musk and green tea. It's an interesting take on pumpkin that I really like! Looking at the notes, they're spot on, although it doesn't smell like pumpkin pie per se (no bakery notes), and there's more going on than just the pumpkin spices. And what I think is green tea is probably the lemon. It's quite nice! When melted, I don't detect the green tea/lemon note at all.

Hawaiian Blast
A tropical blend with fruity notes of orange, pineapple, peach and strawberry combined with light floral nuances of melon, Parma violet, and clove all on a bed of breeze accord and driftwood.
We didn't like this at all. It smells like moldy tropical fruit. Looking at the notes, I think I detect the orange and grapefruit, and a hint of the floral, but it all smells spoiled.

Lime & Lace
Perfect Lime! Not too sweet, but not a sour lime... just right!
Based on the scent name I expected this to be a combination of lime with musk or floral, but it's not. It's a fake, sweet lime with a soda note, but without the fizziness. I think I also detect a hint of orange. It has a little bit of a chemical note that I don't care for, but I think it would make a good mixer to add a lime note to other scents.

Lingonberry Wreath
Red cranberries, juicy peach, grapefruit zest, apple slices, violet blossoms, and creamy vanilla.
A sweet, tart, biting scent that smells like cranberry, pineapple, apple, and maybe peach, and possibly a smidgen of citrus (grapefruit? orange?). I think I also detect a hint of pine, but I'm not sure. It's very sweet and also very tart. I didn't like it at first, but it's grown on me and I really like it now. Looking at the notes, no pineapple, and I don't smell any florals or vanilla. Lingonberries are related to cranberries, but are more sour, tart and bitter.

Midnight Moon
A fresh woodsy blend of crisp pine needs and white fir, warm notes of clove, on a bed of patchouli, oak, and sugar pine combined with a soft floral blend of bergamot, mimosa, jasmine, violet, muguet, ylang, soft woods, and musk
This may be one of the weirdest scents I've ever smelled! The base is very sweet and floral, like violet or maybe gardenia (but I don't really smell that much sweetness when it's melting), and it's also warm, dark, and quite soapy. But the predominant note is kind of an "ashy" smokiness (so not woodsy, campfire, mesquite or hickory smoke). Maybe also black pepper and a hint of patchouli. Looking at the notes, I think I do detect a tiny bit of pine, but no clove, although that could be the warm note. I LOVE this unusual scent!

Molasses Cookie
Freshly grated ginger, warm butter, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, crushed cloves, savory walnuts, rich maple, thick molasses, creamy vanilla, and a hint of sea salt
An incredibly yummy sweet, buttery bakery scent. I do get the molasses, but there are other notes I can't figure out. Vanilla for sure, and maybe cardamom and a hint of nut, nutmeg, and ginger. It's fantastic! Looking at the notes, they're spot on, although I don't detect orange.

Nutty Bread
Tender chestnuts roasting on an open fire... reminiscent of a cozy winter night at the cabin in the country combined with the savory aroma of buttery baked bread fresh from the oven.
An incredible, super authentic scent that smells like slightly burnt (not in a bad way at all) dry toast combined with just a hint of salty chestnuts in the background. Although it's not a sweet scent at all, it could have a barely detectable smidgen of caramel. Looking at the notes, they're spot on, and I think I do get a bit of the buttery note. This scent is perfect on its own, but would probably smell fantastic blended with caramel, vanilla, or coffee! My description sounds a lot like the Caramelized Pralines scent, but that scent is mostly caramel, richer, and slightly sweet, while this scent is definitely breadier and has the burnt and chestnut notes.

Orange Delight
Powerful orange scent complemented with musk and light apricot
This smells more like the slightly bitter rind of the orange, or orange essential oil, than the juicy, sweet insides. Unlike most orange scents, this one is just a little bit sweet. But it's also not sour like satsuma. I actually really like it, and because it's not all that sweet, it would make a good mixer to blend with other scents in order to add an orange note without making the scent sweeter.

Orchid Rain
Delicate Orchid petals dripping with dew drops and fresh rain. Upscale and sophisticated, this beautiful floral and watery ozone fusion has a touch of powder to round out the tones.
A soft, sweet, watery, mostly laundry perfumey scent. It's very very sweet, much more so than a typical laundry scent, since there's a lot more going on. Like 60% laundry and 40% of all the other notes. The floral is more like a rose than orchid, but with some other florals like possibly magnolia (but without the lemon note), with a baby powder note and a bit of soapiness. It's a perfect scent for the bathroom, bedroom, or baby's room. I love this one!

Perfectly Plum
Pink apple peel, fresh pineapple and leafy greens with mid notes of primrose jasmine, Mirabelle plum and gardenia on a dry base of sun-ripened strawberries, raspberry jam, peach nectar and shredded coconut
Plum is definitely the predominant note, but there's a lot more going on in this rich, dark scent. I'm also getting a peach note that makes it smell a bit like peach marmalade (not at all a "cat pee" type peach), and maybe a hint of strawberry, raspberry, and sweet floral. Looking at the notes, I don't get apple, pineapple, or coconut. I love this unusual scent!

Pickin Pumpkins
A warm, spicy pumpkin with highlights of dried orange peel, rum, nutmeg, clove, cassia, allspice, malted vanilla, and a woody, cinnamon bark dry-down
Cinnamon with pumpkin spices (like nutmeg). It's sweeter, richer, and much spicier (more nutmeg and way more cinnamon) than most pumpkin pie type scents, and with no bakery notes. Looking at the notes, I don't smell orange at all. I would consider this primarily a cinnamon scent, as it's quite cinnamony, but I like it!

Pomegranate Cider
The smell of hot cider enhanced with notes of pomegranate, apple, and red berries with notes of cinnamon, clove, and mimosa petals and base notes of vanilla and weedy brambles
I smell cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, and maybe hints of grape and apple. I also detect a tiny bit of cinnamon when melted that I don't smell on cold sniff. This is more of a fake fruity scent (in a good way) than a cider type scent. Looking at the notes, I don't smell clove at all. I like this!

Rainforest Blossom
Green ozone top notes with a clean linen and wild rose floral heart ending with damp earth, moss and woodland musk
A fresh, pleasant, soapy, slightly herbal, slightly mossy scent. I smell ozone and maybe a hint of grassy florals. It's only a little bit sweet. I like it! Looking at the notes, they're right on target.

Salted Caramel Liquor
A warm vanilla toddy is layered with gooey butterscotch and honey and topped with chunks of salted pecan caramels.
Finally, a liquor scented wax melt that actually smells like liquor! It's super sweet creamy liqueur with butterscotch and a bit of caramel, it smells like Butterscotch Schnapps, and it's heavenly! Looking at the notes, I don't smell honey or pecan, and the caramel is not really salted. A better name for this scent would be Butterscotch Liqueur. One of the yummiest scents I've ever smelled! After about an hour, it loses some of the liqueur note, but it's still a fantastic scent.

Spring Rain
Clean refreshing blend with light fruity notes of bergamot and watermelon, soft notes of rain accord, jasmine, and geranium and base notes of patchouli, soft woods, and musk
This lovely scent smells like a combination of rose, very slightly bitter geranium, fresh air, a hint of bergamot (although it's not a cologney scent at all), a tiny bit of vanilla, and a smidgen of black pepper. Looking at the notes, no rose, but I definitely get rose as the main note. I don't detect patchouli, and definitely no watermelon or any fruits at all. I love this scent on cold sniff, but when melted, it gets much more bitter, but most people may not notice (I tend to notice even the smallest amount of bitterness in a scent). It reminds me of ScentSationals Enchanted, but more bitter. It's still a nice scent, but I like it more on cold sniff.

Strawberry Musk
This smells like strawberry with vanilla and chocolate, and a smidgen of a musky or floral note. It sounds like a weird combination, but it's actually quite nice.

Sultry Nights
A richly aromatic blend of peppercorns, juniper berries, clary sage, ylang ylang, elemi, citrus bergamot, clove buds, and nutmeg
A fantastic, sexy, scent of cinnamon (although it's not actually a cinnamon scent), cloves, musk, bergamot, and patchouli. Looking at the notes, peppercorn lends a warm, dark, peppery, cologney note to a scent, which I do get with this scent. I don't smell juniper (pine type note), sage, or ylang ylang. I don't smell nutmeg either, which would give this scent a pumpkiny note. Elemi is a sharp, spicy, balsamic, almost lemony note, which I definitely don't get. Fantastic scent, and it lasted all day, at least 12 hours!

Summer Breeze
Notes of orange and lemon blossoms with white jasmine and woody amber
A strong laundry type scent, but it's not soapy, and it's not totally a laundry scent either. It's kind of harsh, but not in a harsh laundry kind of way like Better Homes & Gardens Line Dried Linen, more like a harsh fake sweet chemical way, but not really in a bad way. It's sweeter than a typical laundry scent, but not perfumey or floral. It's the type of scent that would be great for covering up odors. I like it!

Vanilla & Maple Pecan
Nutty bouquet with coconut, peach, cherry flower, pink hawthorn, and clove with a sweet syrup background
This smells like sweet, super rich, slightly salty vanilla cookie dough with nuts, maple, and a hint of butter. It smells a little bit like pancakes, and it's scrumptious! It's kind of similar to Caramelized Pralines, but this scent is much sweeter, with maple and butter (I like both scents, but if I had to choose, I like this one a bit more). Looking at the notes, I only smell the nuts and syrup, and none of the other notes at all.

White Apple Oakwood
Delicate notes of warm apple and sun drenched grapes dance in the background as cedar wood and fresh figs carry you away.
A pleasant scent of fresh apple, grassy florals, bergamot that gives it a tiny bit of a cologney note, and possibly a smidgen of sage way in the background. I like it! Looking at the notes, I'm surprised I don't see a floral. I don't detect grape, cedar, or figs.

White Clouds
Clean, fresh and airy! This scent has notes of lily, bergamot, geranium, violet and precious woods.
A lovely scent that smells like baby powder with a bit of a soapy, scented toilet paper (in a good way) note. Very nice! Looking at the notes, yes, I definitely smell the lily (which is a major note in baby powder) and violet (the scented toilet paper note).

White Pumpkin Lilac
This rich, sweet scent is anchored with notes of amber, cedar wood and sheer musk. Hints of lilac petals and autumn lily flowers are followed by a blissful combination of pumpkin seeds, spicy coriander, fragrant cinnamon sugar and luscious cashmere vanilla.
This does indeed smell like lilac (the predominant note) with a bit of nutmeg and cinnamon (pumpkin spices). I also smell some other florals and vanilla. It's an interesting scent, and I kind of like it, but it's not my favorite combination.

White Sage & Lavender
Bright and clean scent of white sage combined with the dreamy scent of lavender.
A lovely scent that smells like a combination of baby powder, lavender, and Ivory soap and/or bubble bath. On cold sniff I smell a clean, very slightly sagey note, but I don't smell that when melted. I expected that the sage would give the lavender a medicinal note, but it doesn't. It's a lovely, relaxing herbal bubble bath scent that's perfect for a baby's room or bedroom.
