Pleasantville Oils Wax Melts Reviews

This is a review of 30 Pleasantville Oils wax melt scents (renamed The Melt Stash in early 2021), including some great blends. Fantastic scents, excellent throw, great customer service! https://themeltstash.com

Almond Biscotti
almond, bakery aroma, dough, sugar, vanilla
This might be one of the best scents I've ever smelled! It doesn't smell like biscotti though; it smells like super sweet, rich, creamy almond milk. Or maybe super sweet marzipan. It's absolutely incredible!!

Ares
plum, clove, leaf, ozone, cardamom seed, floral bouquet, vanilla, amber
On cold sniff this is kind of a fresh men's body wash type scent, but when melted, all these other notes come out. I smell bergamot, mahogany, lavender, jasmine, plum or blackberry, a hint of an herbal note, even a smidgen of vanilla with a tiny bit of nuttiness. It's sweet, fresh, floral, herbal, cologney, and even a tiny bit fruity and foodie, all in one! Great scent!

Autumn Woods
lemon, orange, lime, blackberries, carnation, rose, muguet, pine, cedarwood, patchouli, eucalyptus leaves
I smell apple, cedar, patchouli and floral with a musty note. It's just an okay scent. Looking at the notes, I don't smell most of them.

Candy Cane
sweet sugar, vanilla, peppermint
Yep, it's candy cane, that super sweet peppermint candy scent with a little bit of creamy vanilla. No different from other candy cane scents, but I still love it!

Caramel Flame
orange, tobacco leaf, lavender, wood, patchouli, caramelized vanilla, musk
I've smelled this scent before, and it's very nice. It smells like tobacco with sweet caramel and marshmallow, and a hint of wood. Looking at the notes, I don't smell orange or lavender.

Christmas Hearth
orange peel, cinnamon, ginger, cypress, clove, pine, fir
On cold sniff I smell pine, orange, and a bit of clove, and the pine is a bit sour, so I wasn't sure if I'd like it. But when melted, the sourness disappears and it's mostly clove with a smidgen of pine, so it's not a sweet, rich, foodie clove, but more of a warm, musty, slightly smoky... well, a "hearth" type scent. Nice and cozy!

Christmas Star
Roasted Pine Cone (crisp pine with backgrounds of sandalwood, vanilla and raspberry) and Christmas Cookies (cinnamon sugar, vanilla, dough, spice, sugar)
A blend that smells like a vanilla cookie without the sweetness, with the addition of a slightly salty, nutty, very slightly popcorny note that makes it smell like a combination of toast and a vanilla cookie. Looking at the notes, I don't smell pine or raspberry at all, and maybe only a smidgen of the cinnamon and sandalwood. It's a very unique scent and I didn't like it at first, but now that it smells kind of like nutty toast, I do! It does smell similar to their Roasted Pine Cone scent, but the Christmas Cookies note really changes it.

Cocoa Butter Cashmere
warm spices, vanilla, tonka, jasmine, coconut, cedarwood, sandalwood, amber, musk, cocoa butter
A lovely scent that's part foodie, part perfumey. It's a very sweet warm cashmere scent with a bit of musk. I also smell a bit of cedar, a hint of coconut, and just a smidgen of chocolate. While melting, it smells kind of like marshmallows in the room (but not toasted marshmallows). Very nice!

Cypress & Berries
citrus, pineapple, pine, apple, coconut, jasmine, rose, violet, cedar, musk, sandalwood
This smells like a fresh, tropical scent with a hint of pine. I don't detect any berries at all. I smell coconut with a hint of pine, a fresh air note, and maybe a smidgen of sweet floral (although it's just a bit sweet), and possibly a barely detectable smidgen of some kind of fruit (maybe apple). When melted, it's just a fresh scent with a little bit of pine, but the pine is a little sour so although it's a nice scent, it's not one of my favorites. Looking at the notes, I don't detect citrus or pineapple. I'd classify this as a fresh scent with a hint of an herbal note.

Eucalyptus Spearmint
mint, eucalyptus, musk
I detect the eucalyptus and the mint (a soft garden mint with perhaps a smidgen of spearmint), but both notes are tempered by the musk, even though this is not a musky or perfumey scent. It's a little bit like ScentSationals Zen (whose notes are eucalyptus, spearmint and musk, with a hint of pine and sandalwood), but although Zen is not a very sweet scent, it's sweeter and "brighter" than this scent, and with a little bit of a laundry note. This scent is duller, only a little bit sweet, and has a bit of mustiness, with herbal undertones that Zen does not have. But when melted, it loses the mustiness and becomes more full-bodied, with a slightly chilly vibe from the mint and eucalyptus (as well as a strong nasal-clearing effect up close that Zen does not have). It's actually fantastic, much better melted than on cold sniff. And although it's a soft, relaxing scent, it does have a bold throw.

Falling Leaves
clove, cinnamon, smoky guaicwood, berry , cedarwood, patchouli, olibanum, sweet musk
I can't figure out the notes for this scent. On cold sniff I smell pine and something slightly nutty and a little musty, with a smidgen of smokiness, a bit of sourness, and a tiny bit of sweetness. But when melting, in the room it's really just a nice pine scent. Looking at the notes, no pine, but maybe that smoky, musky, slightly piney note is the smoky guaicwood (although guaicwood supposedly smells a bit like sweet tobacco, tea rose, pepper or leather, none of which I detect in this scent). I also don't smell clove or cinnamon, and although there are no cologney or perfumey notes, the olibanum (frankincense) and musk might be that smidgen of sweetness.

Fiddlers Dream
Leaves (green stem, lemon, cedar leaf, pine, spiced fruit, floral melange, earthy musk undertones), Macintosh Apple (green leaves, pear, apple, vanilla, bourbon), Flannel (bergamot, mahogany, musk)
In this fantastic blend, I smell apple (and/or pear?), caramel, a floral, vanilla, and a smidgen of wood. It's SO good! A wonderful combination of notes! When melted, I smell much more of the apple and less of the other notes, and then after several hours I smell more of the mahogany. A fantastic chameleon scent!

Fireside Marshmallow
Toasted Marshmallow and Fireside
A yummy sweet marshmallow scent with barely a smidgen of smokiness, although not enough to be a "toasted" marshmallow scent.

Flannel
bergamot, mahogany, musk
A fantastic warm, rich, sweet (but not perfumey, and not as sweet as other similar scents) mahogany type scent that smells masculine, although it's not a cologne scent. Maybe more incensey, although I don't smell incensey notes like nag champa or patchouli. Very nice!

Frosted Juniper
ozone, camphor, citrus, pine, red currant berry, pear, cherry blossom, juniper, sage
A wonderful combination of pine and cranberry, although I think I detect a hint of black cherry in the background. The pine is a little bit of that sour variety, but the sourness is tempered by the fruit notes, so I don't mind. Maybe also a hint of apple. Looking at the notes, the apple is actually pear. And camphor is a super intense, "rich" menthol type note that I don't detect in this scent. I like this one!

Leaves
green stem, lemon, cedar leaf, pine, spiced fruit, floral melange, earthy musk undertones
This is a typical old brown apples fallen on the ground and mixed with brown leaves type scent. But that doesn't mean it doesn't smell great, because it does! It's a fantastic fall scent, and this seems like a "higher quality" version of this type of scent.

Merry Me
Cinnamon Sticks and Peppermint
This blend is an even mix of cinnamon and nasal-clearing sweet peppermint, and it's fantastic. I don't think I've ever smelled a cinnamon/peppermint wax melt scent, and I'm surprised because it seems like such a logical holiday blend! It's the ultimate Christmas scent! Melted, I'm getting a little more of the pure cinnamon note, and boy it's strong!

Moonlight Path
violet, lavender, vanilla, jasmine, amber, musk, sandalwood
I adore this scent! It's a girly, super sweet scent of gardenia, orange blossom, musk and baby powder. Looking at the notes, I don't smell lavender.

Nightwish
Cranberry Woods, Toasted Marshmallow, Fireside
This is basically a blend of Cranberry Woods and Fireside Marshmallow. It smells like a combination of marshmallow and their Cranberry Woods scent. Cranberry Woods smells like cranberry and pine, half in half when melted, but mixed with Fireside Marshmallow, I smell more of the cranberry. It has a little bit of that sour pine note from the Cranberry Woods, but not enough to ruin the scent.

Oatmeal Milk & Honey
hawthorne, French vanilla, soy milk, almond
A very nice, pleasant, relaxing scent of almond and honey, but it's subtle and not overly sweet. Looking at the notes, no honey, and I guess it does have a bit of creaminess from the soy milk. Hawthorne blooms are a very sweet, musky, spicy, almond-like floral, although I don't really smell any floral notes in this scent.

Ode to Fall
nectarine, orange zest, mandarin, ginger, marzipan, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, vanilla, baked brown sugar, tonic
This smells like salted caramel with a bit of gingerbread, almond, and milky vanilla, and when melted, maybe a smidgen of apple? It's quite milky, and even a bit marshmallowy, making this different from other scents with similar notes. Looking at the notes, I don't smell nectarine (peach) or orange; actually, now that I'm sniffing it, maybe a barely detectable smidgen of peaches and cream, but I wouldn't detect it if I didn't know it was supposed to be there, although that could be the smidgen of apple I thought I smelled. That might be the note that makes this scent so different. There's the almond (marzipan is almond paste). I don't detect anise at all (which smells like licorice). No caramel, but that's probably the brown sugar. And no fizzy soda notes (tonic). I really like this yummy scent, and it lasted all day!

Roasted Pine Cone
crisp pine with backgrounds of sandalwood, vanilla and raspberry
This smells like pine, wood, and the nuttiness of chestnut with a smidgen of smokiness. It's a very nice, cozy scent! Looking at the notes, I don't detect raspberry or any sweet notes, and vanilla, maybe because it "softens" the scent a bit but again, no sweetness.

Shave & Haircut
warm spice, bergamot, fresh, clean, cedarwood, musk
A very clean, very fresh, very soapy scent that on cold sniff smells like men's body wash, but when melted it's not necessarily a masculine scent, just very fresh. That describes a lot of fresh type scents, but this one is different from others, and I really like it. Looking at the notes, on cold sniff I think I detect a smidgen of the warm, woodsy spice, but not at all when melting.

Snowflakes
Peppermint and Pink Sugar (fruity blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, caramel, raspberry jam, musk)
A fantastic blend of sweet candy coated creamy peppermint. Looking at the notes, this scent is predominantly peppermint, with maybe 15% Pink Sugar which gives it that hint of candy. I love it!

Spiked Eggnog
citrus, alcohol, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, vanilla
This smells like eggnog spices without the creamy, milky eggnog. I smell cloves first, then nutmeg, then cinnamon, but even though those are pumpkin pie spices, this is not a pumpkin pie scent at all. Actually, I might smell a bit of the milky eggnog. It's quite nice. Looking at the notes, I don't detect any citrus or alcohol type notes.

Sugared Maple
bergamot, pine, maple sugar, amber, resin, wood
I smell nuts and wood with maple and a bit of molasses, and it's incredible! I've never smelled anything like this. Looking at the notes, bergamot gives scents a cologney note, and I don't detect that at all. I also don't smell pine, although it could be subtle and contributing to that woodsy note. This one lasted 12 hours and would have gone longer if I hadn't turned off the warmer for the evening.

Sun Dance
lemon, eucalyptus, fir needle, peppermint, cedarwood, sandalwood, clove
Sweet soapy clean mahogany and incense with a hint of pine and smidgen of lemon. Up close I get a very slight nasal clearing effect, even though I don't smell mint, so maybe the pine is actually eucalyptus. When melting for an hour or so, it becomes slightly more lemony and less of the mahogany. This scent is unique and incredible!

Twice the Spice
butter, almond, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, tonka
This is not what I expected based on the scent name. I thought it was going to be a very spicy cinnamon type scent, but instead it's a yummy, rich, buttery bakery scent with cloves, cinnamon, and a bit of nutmeg, but it's not overly spicy. Besides the buttery-ness, what also differentiates this scent from other cinnamon bakery type scents is almond! And maybe a smidgen of orange. Looking at the notes, they're spot on (although no orange). I guess I would describe this scent as a moist, fresh-out-of-the-oven spice cake (not gingerbread and not a cinnamon roll). It's fantastic! After melting for a few hours, the cloves and nutmeg really come out and it smells a little more pumpkin pie-y.

Winter Candy Apple
apple, orange zest, floral, oak moss, sweet
I smell apple, orange and cranberry with a musty "dirt" note, but not in a bad way.

Wishful Thinking
Chocolate Orchid (lemon, orange, bergamot, lime, raspberry, peach, jasmine, orchid, chocolate, vanilla, patchouli, amber) and Nag Champa
I love this blend! It's sweet and foodie, and incensey at the same time. It smells like nag champa with a hint of sweet fruit (blackberry, raspberry, and possibly a smidgen of orange), with sweet vanilla and maybe a smidgen of chocolate. It's divine!!
