This is a review of the 14 Kohl's Sonoma Wax Melts for Fall 2022. Apple Oat Crisp, Let's Get Cozy, Pumpkin and Smoked Vanilla, and Roasted Chestnut are new scents (as is Morning Latte and Wildberry Frose), while the rest have returned from previous years.
Apple Oat Crisp
Pastry, Cinnamon, Spice
A very nice, rich, authentic apple pie scent with lots of clove and cinnamon.
Autumn Hayride
Autumn Breeze, White Clove, Amberwood
This has been one of my favorite scents for years. It smells like smoky, burning leaves, raw wood, a hint of pine, and a touch of cloves. A perfect, cozy scent to melt on a chilly fall or winter day! This scent has been returning almost every year since 2015.
Caramel Toffee
Caramel, Butterscotch, Cinnamon
A fantastic, yummy scent that smells like a sweet, rich cinnamon bun but without the bready note, and maybe a hint of caramel. This scent has been returning every year since 2015.
Cinnamon Spice Cookie
Cinnamon, Sugar Cookies, Warm Maple Syrup
A fantastic rich, sweet scent of brown sugar, maple, raisins, vanilla cookie, and hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, caramel, and buttercream. This scent has been returning almost every year since 2018.
Clementine and Berries
Cranberry, Pomegranate, Citrus
This scent first came out in 2021. It's a fantastic, intensely fruity scent of peach, apple, cranberry, and a smidgen of orange. The peach is not a bitter "cat pee" type peach, but more of a sweet, fruity peach or apricot. The cranberry gives this sweet, juicy, fruity scent a smidgen of tartness. There's no cinnamon or any other type of spices that are usually in fall scents, so it smells more summery than fall-like. I really like it! Melted, it's like 70% peach and 30% cranberry, and I no longer detect the apple (which I guess is actually pomegranate) or orange.
Fall in Love
Fresh Apples, Woodland Sage, Cedarwood
This scent returns almost every year. It smells like old brown apples that have fallen to the ground at the end of the season, mixed with musty, mossy brown leaves and maybe a smidgen of pine. But unlike most old apple and brown leaves type fall scents, this one has another note that smells a bit like earthy pineapple, with a smidgen of a vinegary note. It's never been one of my favorites.
Falling Leaves
Green Apple, Caramel, Vanilla
One of my favorite scents, that typical musty fall apple scent that smells like apples on the ground in October, at the end of the apple season, mixed with brown leaves, pine, moss, and a hint of apple cider. It's not sweet, or maybe just barely sweet. This scent has been returning almost every year since 2015. The notes on the label are completely wrong, as there are no caramel or vanilla notes in this scent.
Let's Get Cozy
Amber, Wood, Musk
A warm, soft cologne type scent with a fresh note and a touch of pine. It's not overly sweet, so not truly a cologne scent, but it's that "type" of scent. It's quite nice.
Morning Latte
Coffee, Vanilla Cream, Almond
This scent has been available as a candle since at least December 2021, but I didn't find it in a wax melt when I did my February 2022 reviews. This is not a coffee scent... It's milk chocolate. It smells like a Mr. Goodbar chocolate bar, with that slight nutty note. It's not a harsh or stinky chocolate, or a chocolate fudge or dark chocolate type scent. Definitely milk chocolate. There could possibly be a smidgen of coffee way in the background though. Although I love the taste of chocolate, I usually don't like it as a wax melt, but I really like this one because it's not a "stinky" chocolate. Looking at the notes, no chocolate, but almond is probably the very slight nutty note, although I'm not getting almond specifically (which would smell a bit like pistachio).
Pumpkin and Smoked Vanilla
Maple, Spice, Vanilla
A yummy bakery scent of warm cloves with a tiny bit of smokiness (a "warm" smokiness, not a woodsy smokiness), a hint of other spices like nutmeg and ginger, a tiny bit of vanilla, and possibly a smidgen of cinnamon. It's not overly sweet, which makes it quite authentic. It does have a pumpkiny note due to the spices, but it's not really pumpkin pie, unless it's pumpkin pie with lots of cloves. I like it!
Pumpkin Spice
Pumpkin, Brown Sugar, Gingered Vanilla
Sweet pumpkin pie, including the slightly buttery, slightly salty pie crust. It does have a barely detectable Play-Doh note, but not nearly enough to ruin the scent. This scent returns every year.
Roasted Chestnut
Roasted Chestnut, Glazed Pecans, Smokey Embers
This smells like a combination of creamy, milky vanilla and salty chestnut with a little bit of smokiness. It's not as "chestnutty" as other roasted chestnut type scents, like Better Homes & Gardens Roasted Chestnut & Acorns. I like it.
Vanilla Pumpkin Latte
Pumpkin, Warm Vanilla, Espresso
It's a fantastic super creamy coffee scent with a sweet milky vanilla note and a smidgen of pumpkin spices and maybe a hint of caramel. This scent has been returning almost every year since 2017.
Wildberry Frose
Berries, Bubbles, Sugar
Like the Morning Latte scent, this scent has been available as a candle since at least December 2021, but I didn't find it in a wax melt when I did my February 2022 reviews. It's also not on the Kohl's website. I'm getting strawberry and maybe raspberry, and a hint of vanilla. It also has a hint of a champagne note which gives it just a smidgen of bitterness, but not enough to be annoying. It's an artificial berry scent, not authentic fruit, but it's quite nice, like a combination of berry mousse and berry scented lipstick or skin cream.
