This is a review of Big Lots (Living Colors) Fall Wax Melts from 2019. These scents smelled pretty good and threw quite well. Big Lots wax melts tend to do not have the best throw, so this was a nice surprise!
Crisp Apple
A wonderful sweet apple scent. It's a bit sweeter than most apple scents, and has a little bit of a candy note. The scent started to dissipate within 2 hours, and was almost gone by 3 hours.
Fall Campfire
A woodsy scent with a smoky note and milky marshmallow, and possibly a smidgen of leather. It's not sweet. The smoky note is realistic, rather than the bacony or Liquid Smoke note I often find in these types of scents. It also has a hint of a rich oud wood note, which is a dark intense tarry woody scent with tree sap and cedar notes (sounds awful, but smells incredible). This is a high quality scent that I would expect from a more expensive brand. I love it!
Mountain Air
A fresh watery men's body wash scent with another note I can't figure out, maybe something tropical, but I think there's also a smidgen of barely detectable pine in the background. It's a nice scent, but similar to a lot of other fresh watery scents out there.
Pumpkin Pancakes
This does smell a little like pancakes, but more like sweet buttery almond shortcake cookies. The almond is not very pronounced, but I can detect it. It's a yummy scent! I don't smell any pumpkin spices like nutmeg.
Pumpkin Spice
A pumpkin pie scent, sweeter than most similar scents I've smelled, and without the Play-Doh note that some pumpkin scents tend to have. It may also have a smidgen of a bourbon or perfumey type note, which makes this a bit different from all the other generic pumpkin pie scents out there. I really like it!
Pumpkin Woods
This might be a dupe of an older toasted marshmallow scent, because that's what it smells like. It has a hint of smokiness, and another note I can't figure out, maybe tobacco or caramel or some kind of aromatic spice like frankincense or myrrh (there's just a barely detectable smidgen of a cologney note), but no pumpkin spices like cinnamon or nutmeg. It's neither woodsy nor pumpkiny, but it smells fantastic. Despite the marshmallow and smoky notes, it's nothing like the Fall Campfire scent; this scent is sweet, with that caramel or tobacco note, while Fall Campfire is not sweet and has more of a smoky note and that smidgen of leather.
