Better Homes & Gardens Wax Melt Reviews from Walmart - Spring 2020

This is a review of Better Homes and Gardens Wax Melts from Walmart for Spring 2020. This year there are only 10 new scents.

Blue Harbor Cove
Reminiscent of a tropical escape, this irresistible aroma blends coconut with pineapple, apple and island blue waters. Aged woods, musk and tonka linger in the base.
I smell coconut, fruit (with a hint of pineapple), and a hint of a sweet watery note. It's similar to Better Homes & Gardens Caribbean Sea Breeze, but sweeter and slightly more fruity. It's a great scent.

Island Coconut Creamsicle
Coconut and orange blend harmoniously with vanilla, sugar, and fresh cream with enchanted hints of peach and fig
The main note in this scent is orange, but I also smell coconut. Maybe 60% orange and 30% coconut, with 10% tropical fruit, pineapple, or even banana, in the background. It's sweet and citrusy, and even a little tart. Although it's not sweet enough or creamy enough to be a creamsicle, it's a great scent, and quickly becoming a favorite among our Facebook group members! Several people have said it smells like Australian Gold suntan oil. Looking at the scent notes, I don't smell peach or fig, but I guess those are the other fruit notes I'm detecting.

Key Lime Cheesecake
Honey graham crackers layered with rich and fluffy lime zest cheesecake topped with candied lime slices
One of my new favorites, I smell lime, graham cracker crust, and rich creamy vanilla. It's an amazing, yummy summer type scent that I think most people will love! That graham cracker note really makes this scent stand out. Thankfully, I don't actually smell cheesecake, as cheesecake notes added to wax melt scents often end up having a sour note.

Lavender Lemonade
Aromatic lavender is suddenly refreshing with tart lemonade and fizzy sugar crystals. Top notes: Lemonade & Pineapple Water, Middle notes: Lavender & Melon, Bottom notes: Sugar Crystals & Vanilla
I do smell the lemon, and maybe another fruit like raspberry or blackberry. I "think" I smell lavender, but I'm not sure. This combination should smell fantastic, but it's not one of my favorites. It has a waxy, slightly bitter note, and it's not as sweet as I think it should be. But it does have an odd, chemical kind of sweetness that smells kind of like artificial sweeteners taste. With a similar scent like Yankee Candle Lemon Lavender, you definitely smell both the lemon and the lavender, so the fact that it's not a really sweet scent doesn't matter. But with this scent it's kind of blurry. Someone in our group said this smells like "a super sickly sweet fake candy scent", like jellybeans. Another person said it smells like fake lemonade. That word "fake" is coming up in a lot of people's reviews. Looking at the notes, I think the pineapple, and especially the melon, might be causing the oddness of this scent.

Over the Rainbow
Sweet summer pineapple and succulent pear, blended into a dreamy base of white woods and musk
This is a fantastic orange scent mixed with a hint of another fruit, maybe gooseberry or apricot or a sweet tropical fruit nectar note? It smells very similar to ScentSationals Comal River for H.E.B. store, but it's not the same scent (Comal River is more pungent and has more of the gooseberry type note). It's also very similar to ScentSationals Raspa from H.E.B. And it's also kind of similar to ScentSationals Molten Orange, but not nearly as pungent, and with the addition of that other, sweeter fruit note. Looking at the notes, I can't believe I don't see orange, because this is an orange scent, and pretty much everyone who has smelled this concurs. Maybe the blend of pineapple and pear smells like orange? I don't smell pineapple or pear though. It smells a lot like Sonoma Blue Citron from Kohl's. I think it's supposed to be a dupe of the Capri Blue Volcano scent.

Palm Beach Paradise
Guava and pineapple notes balanced by juicy peach and red berries, coming together with floral nuances of wild palm and linden flower
I smell pear first (or maybe apple), but also a hint of pineapple and/or a sweet tropical fruit like pink guava. No sour tropical fruit notes. Maybe a smidgen of coconut? It's a little artificial and just "okay" for me.

Pink Poppies
Poppy fields touched with jasmine, kiwi, and pink berries that rest gently on a base of violet, vanilla, and cedarwood
This smells similar to the new ScentSationals Mystic, which I described as, "blackberry, floral, bergamot (a cologney note), and maybe a smidgen of lemon". Mystic, however, has a spruce note that this scent does not have, and this scent has a little bit more of the lemony note, which I actually think is magnolia (a rose-like floral with a lemony note). So this scent is magnolia with a hint of blackberry and perhaps a smidgen of bergamot. There's something else way in the background that I can't figure out, maybe something peppery, or pear, or something a little odd that I don't like. Looking at the notes, it might be the kiwi that smells odd to me.

Pistachio Macaroon
Welcome Spring with a taste of nutty pistachio, warm hazelnut and fluffy whipped cream. Top: Pistachio, Hazelnut & Cinnamon; Mid: Brown Sugar; Bottom: Vanilla, Praline & Whipped Cream
What an incredible scent! This may be one of my new favorites. It's a rich buttery vanilla cookie scent with a pistachio or almond note. It's sweet and creamy and even has a smidgen of a salty note that brings out the nuttiness. Better Homes & Gardens had a scent that came out in spring of 2017 called Salted Pistachio Sorbet that a lot of people loved. For me, that scent was kind of one-dimensional and boring, but THIS scent is amazing! It's richer, sweeter, and creamier. Although I'd love it even more if had just a little more pistachio (almond?). Looking at the notes, I don't smell cinnamon at all, and I'm surprised that pistachio is a top note rather than the vanilla.

Walking on Sunshine
Sun-ripe berries, red currant, and mandarin with spiked peach sparkle above amber-drenched lily and heliotrope. This alluring scent has notes of white freesia and orange blossom warmed with fruited musk, tonka bean, and vanilla
This smells a lot like Better Homes & Gardens Golden Sunlit Woods, but it's not the same scent. Like Golden Sunlit Woods, it's a nice sweet warm ambery perfumey scent with rich vanilla, a little bit of a cologney note, a tiny bit of an ozonic note, and maybe a barely detectable smidgen of fruit and wood. And just like that scent, this scent is also quite salty. I can't figure out what the other note is in this scent; it's like Golden Sunlit Woods plus maybe palm, pineapple or apple? Someone in our group said it smells like orange blossoms, and I think I do detect that. It's a great scent, and it lasted for 12 hours and probably would have gone longer if I hadn't turned off the warmer for the evening. Looking at the notes, it appears that Walmart included notes for two different scents, but I don't know which is the one that applies to this scent; I think it's the second set of notes. Unless these are indeed all the notes for this scent.

Wild Lavender Linen
Flowering lavender and just-washed linen fused with green aromatic herbs, clean aldehydes, and the brilliance of heady white cotton flower finished with gently fruited musk
Most people who smell this think it smells like Febreze April Fresh Downy fabric softener, and it does! But comparing this scent and the actual Febreze April Fresh Downy wax melt, they're similar but not the same. The Downy scent is slightly sweeter, with a gardenia note, and a tiny bit of a candy note, and maybe even a barely detectable smidgen of strawberry, along with the fabric softener note. Wild Lavender Linen has more of the fabric softener note, no fruity or candy notes, and a strong musk perfume note. It's very, very sweet, but I love sweet scents and this one is fantastic! Looking at the notes, I don't detect herbs (which tend to have a savory note), but there's the musk.
